Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June 2020) is an annual celebration of the contribution people make around the world through volunteering. Although the coronavirus pandemic has stopped many projects, we CELEBRATE our CURRENT volunteers and invite FUTURE volunteers to find out more about Assumption Volunteers! Why not consider taking some time out and volunteer with us in the next academic year?
Since the middle of March 2020 we have been practicing the art of social distancing in the fight against the Covid-19 Coronavirus pandemic. Both our UK and overseas projects are affected by the lockdown and new projects are on hold for the time being. This past month we also said farewell to Helen Granger, who has been the inspirational coordinator of Assumption Volunteers in the past 14 years!
Assumption Volunteers is run by the Religious of the Assumption, a Catholic religious order of women who have been involved for nearly 180 years with young people around the world. We offer young adults an opportunity to share their gifts and skills in poor communities, especially with the young, alongside Assumption communities overseas and in the UK.
All of our projects are broadly education-based. Whether you want to work as a teacher in India, in a creative arts centre in Newcastle or in one of the many community development projects in the Philippines, your role will be to empower the poor, the young and the marginalized.
