AV Newsletter Summer 2017

It's August and we celebrate the Feast of the Assumption, the bicentennial year of the birth of two of the foundresses of the Religious of the Assumption, the Youth Pilgrimage in France - and the end of one volunteer year and the beginning of the next.

We wish a happy home-coming to our volunteers Patch, Nino, Juan, Liz, and Rosie who have completed one or two years in Kids Kabin and in the Pendower Good Neighbour Project in Newcastle.  And we welcome home Alice, Tra-my and Hazel who have finished their year in the Philippines.

We also welcome Visitation (here receiving her AV cross from Sister Patricia) and Judy who go to the Philippines on 31 August and we hope soon to welcome Nicole, Kate, Olya, Daryl and Joseph (who are waiting for visas in the USA, Ukraine and Philippines) into Newcastle in September.

In this newsletter:

  • Hazel and Nino reflect on their volunteering years in the Philippines and Newcastle
  • new volunteers (Assumption, Jesuit and Salesian) prepare for their service abroad
  • we invite all returned Assumption volunteers to a reunion in London
